Term 3 Social Skills Groups & Developmental Playgroups

Empower your child to further develop social skills, build self esteem and gain confidence amongst their peers.
The Social Skills Group Programs are designed for children who are struggling with social interactions, peer relationships and recognising the emotions that impact on themselves and others.
Children participating in the group will:
- Learn fair play (cooperation, negotiation and turn taking)
- Build skills to help develop positive relationships
- Recognise and deal with positive and negative feelings
- Understand how our behaviours impact on others
- Develop their problem solving skills
- Recognise and appreciate individual differences
- Deal with social dilemmas that arise within a group interaction (interrupting, name-calling, etc)
- Strengthen communication skills
- Develop leadership skills
- Build confidence and self esteem
Outcomes focus on the children gaining confidence amongst their peers, feeling better about themselves, developing skills to deal with challenging situations and having a sense of achievement in a fun and supportive setting.
The Developmental Playgroup is designed for children aged 2 to 5 years that demonstrate difficulties in social, developmental, language, motor, and/or sensory processing skills. The playgroups aim to help prepare and support your child for success in the preschool environment. Each group will have 4 participants and 2 facilitators (Occupational Therapist and Psychologist or Speech Pathologist).
This group is a sensory-motor group specifically designed to address a child's individual needs as well as foster social development. Children participate in a wide range of carefully selected multi-sensory activities such as:
- guided play (problem solving activities, motor planning activities and symbolic/representational play)
- gross motor activities (gym time)
- fine motor activities (table top craft)
- social games
- snack time

Please note that if you are not currently working with a therapist at Sensational Kids, the therapy team would like to meet you before enrollment to find the most appropriate group for your child.
