Sensational Kids’ speech therapists work with children of all ages and their families to develop children’s communication and swallowing skills and supporting them to achieve their potential.  Our skilled speech therapists use a range of evidence-based approaches, including Floortime and SOS Feeding to promote speech, language, swallowing and social skills for children.  Our speech team value the importance of making sessions fun and enjoyable for children and their families and enjoy seeing children grow and develop their unique potential.

JOELLEE NICHOLAS - CLINICAL TEAM LEADER

Joellee graduated from Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology. Since graduating, she has worked across a range of settings including primary and secondary school, Child Protection Services, and private practice. Joellee relocated to Melbourne in 2017 and has been with Sensational Kids ever since. 

Joellee is trained in DIR Floortime with an Advanced certificate and provides individual supervision, and runs monthly meetings for the team. Joellee has a special interest in communication development and uses the DIR Floortime, play based, approach to work holistically with the child and the family to better understand each individual and their super powers. In addition, Joellee is ADOS trained and works with the Senior Psychology Team to conduct autism diagnostic assessments. Joellee is passionate about advocating for neurodiversity and committed to neuro affirming practice. 

Joellee is based in Cheltenham Mon-Fri as the Speech Pathology Team Supervisor and Clinical Team Leader for both sites.  

 

ROSE HO

Rose graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Speech Pathology. Rose aims to maximise each child’s confidence and communication skills by providing evidence-based therapy tailored to their interests and strengths, and at the same time working collaboratively with the child’s family and all the important people involved. Fluent in both English and Vietnamese, Rose is able to work closely with culturally and linguistically diverse clients and their families to ensure a holistic care is provided. Rose is committed to ongoing professional learning to help her clients achieve their full potential, as she believes that the ability to communicate plays a crucial role in making moments memorable for everyone. Rose is based at our Kensington clinic.

Katie Mulholland

Katie graduated from La Trobe University (Melbourne) with a Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Speech Pathology. She is passionate about working with children with a range of diagnoses and backgrounds and is dedicated to learning about what motivates your child most so that they can achieve success. Katie particularly enjoys working with early intervention clients on their language development and with children who need help with their speech sounds. She is passionate about creating a supportive environment and working collaboratively with families to help children reach their full potential.

Katie is based at our Kensington clinic.

Hope Oliver

Hope graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Speech Pathology. Hope is passionate about taking a strengths-based approach to therapy by building on each child’s unique strengths and skills to help them achieve success towards their goals. Hope enjoys working collaboratively with families, educators, and other professionals to facilitate the best possible outcomes for children. Hope is a strong advocate for neurodiversity-affirming practice and enjoys working with others around the child to build their capacity to create supportive and empowering environments to help children thrive.

RACHAEL FURNER

Rachael is an experienced Speech Pathologist with a primary interest in speech, language and literacy, educational assessments (primary and secondary) – including spoken and written comprehension and expression, decoding, spelling, and intervention for preschool and school aged language and literacy.  Rachael works at our Cheltenham clinic.

Jasmine Aulakh

Jasmine graduated from Flinders University in South Australia with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology. She has previously worked in public hospitals and not-for-profit organisations with a diverse range of populations. Fluent in both English and Cantonese, Jasmine is passionate about working with culturally and linguistically diverse clients and their families. She particularly enjoys working with early intervention clients on their language development.

Emma Trang

Emma graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Applied Sciences and Masters of Speech Pathology. Before graduating as a speech pathologist, she worked in special schools, and as a support worker. She enjoys supporting those with complex communication needs, and social communication skills challenges. She is particularly passionate about creating client and family centred goals, and ensuring they are meaningful to them.

Emma can speak proficient Vietnamese and aims to support families that are culturally and linguistically diverse to the best of her ability.  Emma is based at our Cheltenham clinic full time.

Mia Norman-Hall

Mia graduated from Southern Cross University on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Mia has had a versatile career spanning both non-profit and private practices in rural and regional areas of New South Wales.

Mia‘s heart lies in working with children who have complex communication needs and commits to making a difference in the lives of those facing communication barriers. Mia’s dedication to the neuro-affirming approach ensures that her interactions and interventions are tailored to the unique strengths and challenges of each individual. Whether it’s in the realm of speech and language disorders, developmental delays, or other challenges, Mia brings compassion, expertise, and a drive to empower children to communicate effectively.
